Toronto Const. John Zivcic, who died Monday following a weekend crash, will have a full police funeral next Monday at the Toronto Congress Centre, the Toronto Police Association says.
Zivcic, 34, was responding to a call on Saturday afternoon about an impaired driver when his unmarked cruiser collided with another car at Bloor Street West and Neilson Drive, near Highway 427. The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.
The officer, who was with the police force for six years, was taken to St. Michael’s Hospital where he died of his injuries on Monday afternoon. He leaves behind his mother and two siblings.
A police procession will occur before the public memorial service, which begins at 11 a.m. at the Toronto Congress Centre at 650 Dixon Rd.
A visitation will be held from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. on Sunday at the Delmoro Funeral Home in North York.
Additional public visitations will be held next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Bocchinfuso Funeral Home in Thorold, Ont.
A private funeral mass will be held on Dec. 12 at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Croatian Church in Welland.

The general public is invited to attend Monday’s funeral at the Toronto Congress Centre starting at 10 a.m. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Road closures: Martin Grove Road, from Bethridge to Dixon roads, will be closed from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday for the police procession. The northbound and southbound exit ramps of highways 409 and 401 at Martin Grove Road will also be closed at that time.
The cortege will leave Delmoro Funeral Home, located at 61 Beverly Hills Dr., and proceed the following route:
- Westbound on Wilson Ave.
- Walsh Ave.
- Albion Rd.
- Westbound on Elmhurst Dr.
- Southbound on Islington Ave.
- Westbound on Rexdale Blvd.
- Southbound on Martin Grove Rd.
